How to Set Up UGFTV on ONN Google TV 4K

Set up UGFTV on ONN Google TV 4K

The ONN 4K box from Walmart is our favorite way to watch UGFTV. Here’s how to set up the box, install the UGFTV app and start watching in about 10 minutes.

What you need

  • An ONN 4K streaming box or stick with Google TV, plugged into your TV (we list the models we recommend on our Recommended Devices page).
  • A Google account (a free Gmail account works). You need it for Google Play.
  • Home internet: 50 Mbps per TV recommended, 25 Mbps minimum.
  • Your UGFTV login. No account yet? Start a free 3-day trial, no credit card needed.

Part 1: First-time ONN box setup

Skip this part if your ONN box is already set up and shows the Google TV home screen.

  1. 1Plug it in

Connect the ONN box to an HDMI port on your TV and plug in the power adapter. Turn on the TV and switch it to that HDMI input (for example HDMI 1).

  2. 2Pair the remote

Put the batteries in the remote. If the screen asks you to pair, hold the Back and Home buttons together until it connects.

  3. 3Language and setup method

Pick your language. You can set up with the Google Home app on your phone by scanning the QR code on screen, or choose to set up on the TV with the remote instead.

  4. 4Wi-Fi and Google account

Choose your Wi-Fi network, enter the password, then sign in to your Google account.

  5. 5Finish

Follow the on-screen prompts (apps, remote buttons) until you reach the Google TV home screen. Let any system updates finish before moving on.

Choosing “basic TV” instead of signing in to Google turns off Google Play, so you won’t be able to install Downloader. Sign in with a Google account.

Part 2: Install the UGFTV app

UGFTV isn’t in the Google Play store, so you install it with a free app called Downloader. It only takes a minute.

  1. 1Install Downloader

From the home screen, open Search (or the Apps tab), search for Downloader (the orange app by AFTVnews) and install it from Google Play.

  2. 2Enter app.ugftv.com

Open Downloader, select the address box, type app.ugftv.com and select Go.

  3. 3Allow the install

The TV will ask whether Downloader may install apps. Choose Settings, turn Downloader on, then press Back.

  4. 4Install UGFTV

When the download finishes, select Install, then Open. You can then delete the downloaded file to save space.

  5. 5Sign in

Enter the UGFTV username and password from your welcome email.

Can’t find the UGFTV app later? Go to the Apps tab or “Your apps” on the home screen. Highlight UGFTV, hold the select button and move it to the front so it’s always one click away.

Part 3: Make sure your internet is ready

Internet speed: what you need

  • 50 Mbps per TV streaming at the same time is recommended.
  • 25 Mbps per TV is the minimum.
  • Run a speed test on the TV or a phone standing next to it, not across the house.
  • A Wi-Fi extender or mesh system only helps the signal reach farther. It never makes slow internet faster. If the speed test is low next to your router, contact your internet provider.
  • An Ethernet cable from the router to the box (with an adapter, if your box has no Ethernet port) usually gives the steadiest connection.

UGFTV doesn’t control or repair home internet or Wi-Fi. Your internet provider handles that.

Troubleshooting

  • “Install blocked” or no install button: the permission for Downloader is off. Start the download again in Downloader. When the TV asks, choose Settings and turn Downloader on. On many Google TV boxes this setting is also under Settings > Privacy (or System) > Security & Restrictions > Unknown sources.
  • Downloader can’t reach app.ugftv.com: check the spelling (no “www”), then confirm the box is online by opening YouTube. Restart the box by unplugging it for 30 seconds.
  • “App not installed”: make sure there is free storage (Settings > System > Storage), delete old downloaded files in Downloader, and try again.
  • Login rejected: type the username and password exactly as shown in your welcome email (they are case sensitive). If it still fails, email support@ugftv.com.
  • Buffering or freezing: run a speed test next to the TV. Under 25 Mbps, the problem is your internet connection. Contact your internet provider, try an Ethernet cable, or move the router closer. An extender helps reach, not speed.
  • Remote stopped working: hold Back and Home together to pair it again, or replace the batteries.

FAQ

Is sideloading the UGFTV app safe?

You’re installing the official UGFTV app from our own address, app.ugftv.com. Only allow Downloader (or another app you trust) to install apps, and only type in addresses you know.

Does this work on other Google TV or Android TV devices?

Usually yes. The same Downloader steps work on most Google TV and Android TV devices. See our Android TV guide and Platforms page.

Which ONN box should I buy?

See our Recommended Devices page. Any ONN model with Google TV and 4K works well.

Do I need a new app for every TV?

Install UGFTV on each streaming device you want to use. Each TV watching at the same time needs its own internet speed (50 Mbps recommended).

Does the trial need a credit card?

No. The free 3-day trial needs no card. Paid plans are prepaid for a set length and don’t renew automatically.

Can I watch on my phone too?

Yes. See our Android phone guide or iPhone, iPad and web guide.

Ready to watch?

Try UGFTV free for 3 days on your ONN box. No credit card needed. Check the guide in the app for what’s on.
